All the impressions of a work printed at any time or times from one setting either by the author or by a subsequent editor.
EDITING
1.  Process of proofreading a BIBLIOGRAPHIC RECORD and verifying it against the piece being cataloged, ensuring that the record is accurate and conforms to accepted cataloging standards and local practices.  2. To prepare (written material) for publication presentation, as by correcting, revising, or adapting.
EDITOR
One who prepares for publication or supervises the publication of a work or collection of works or articles that are not his/her own.  Responsibility may extend to revising and providing commentaries, introductory matter, etc.
EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES INFORMATION CENTER (ERIC)
U.S. Dept. of Education sponsored national clearinghouse for information on education. ERIC consists of Resources in Education ED reports and Current Index to Journals in Education EJ articles. ED reports are available on MICROFICHE in the Journal Room. They can also be ordered for a fee through the ERIC Document Reproduction Service, EDRS. EJ articles are available from education journals owned by CSU or through INTERLIBRARY LOAN. Many full text articles are available through SFX Citation Linker in Sage, via ERIC in OCLC FirstSearch and via ERIC through CSUL databases.

EIC

eID
CSU specific. An eIdentity is a unique identifier for each authorized user at Colorado State University. An eID allows access to many university electronic resources (e-Services), such as EMAIL, RAMweb, WebCT.

ELEC MEDIA
Collection of books, maps, documents in digitized format on compact disks available for checkout. Located in MORGAN LIBRARY, Lower Level.
ELEC REF
Collection of databases and other reference materials in digitized format on compact disks. Like all reference materials, these are non-circulating. Some Elec Ref materials are installed on Public Computer Stations in the EIC, others are installed as needed. Located in MORGAN LIBRARY, EIC, 1st floor.

ELECTRONIC INDEX

A DATABASE of citations which may include full-text digitized articles, generally searchable by author, title, or keyword.
ELECTRONIC INFORMATION CENTER (EIC)
The EIC provides access to SAGE, the online public access catalog, CD-ROM databases, and online electronic databases in the areas of science and technology, social sciences, humanities and business.  It also provides access to the WORLD WIDE WEB, Microsoft Office Suite, multi media stations, GIS, and CD-BURNERS.  The EIC also houses the ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY ROOM, the EILs and the INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO ACCESS CENTER (IVAC).  Located in MORGAN LIBRARY, on the 1st floor, west wing.
ELECTRONIC INFORMATION LAB (EILs)
EIL #1 (room 166), and EIL #2 (room 165), are computer labs used for instruction of SAGE, the ONLINE PUBLIC ACCESS CATALOG, online electronic DATABASES, CD-ROM searching, Microsoft Office Suite and access to the WORLD WIDE WEB. Located in MORGAN LIBRARY, 1st floor, west wing.
ELECTRONIC JOURNAL
A journal available in an electronic format usually via the WORLD WIDE WEB. Sometimes called e-journals.
ELECTRONIC MAIL  (EMAIL)
Electronic communication through institutional, community or commercial networks.
ELECTRONIC ORDERING
The INNOPAC ordering module which allows orders to be sent electronically to vendors who are equipped to receive them.
ELECTRONIC RESERVE SERVICE
Managed by the LOAN/RESERVE DESK materials selected by faculty for required class reading, are digitized and placed on Electronic Reserve for displaying to screen, downloading or printing. Also known as ER.

This development fund was created to support special library technological initiatives.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The Employee Assistance Program is a free and confidential counseling service with an office on campus that is open to all Colorado State University employees. It is a partnership between Colorado State University and EAP International which has offices in all 50 states and worldwide.

EMPLOYEE ENHANCEMENT COMMITTEE (EEC)
To provide the staff of the CSU Libraries with opportunities for personal and professional development, and to foster communication and interest among CSU Libraries staff about what they would consider beneficial training and development activities.

ENCUMBRANCE
Money set aside for a PURCHASE ORDER which has been placed with a VENDOR, but not yet paid for because the product or service has not yet been received.
ENCODED ARCHIVAL DESCRIPTIONS (EAD)
The Encoded Archival Description (EAD) standard is used by digital libraries to create machine-readable finding aids. Archival finding aids are descriptive bibliography or metadata tools which take the form of inventories, registers, indexes, guides, and similar resources created by museums, libraries, repositories, and other kinds of archives. ENDNOTE
Colorado State University researchers can use bibliographic reference software such as EndNote to manage book and journal citations that are pertinent to work in their field. EndNote can also automatically format citation styles within a word processor. As an added software feature, the Z39.50 protocol in EndNote enables the researcher to directly search and automatically import citations from the SAGE library catalog and selected online databases.

ENDOWMENT
Any bequest or GIFT that provides an income for an institution or person; the interest from the MORGAN LIBRARY ENDOWMENT will be used to purchase materials and provide additional services at University Libraries.
ENTRY
Record of a publication in a CATALOG or list. Besides the main entry, there may be author entries, title entries, series entries, subject entries, and other less common types of added entries.
ENTRY WORD
Word by which the entry is arranged in a CATALOG, usually the first word (other than an article) of a heading.

ERC
1. Engineering Research Center, the research facility for the Engineering College located at the Foothills Campus. 2. Acronym for Environmental Resources Center.

ERRATA
Sheet of corrections printed after a publication has already been published and sent to those who purchased the publication so errors can be corrected.
EVENT REQUEST FORM
Libraries form DO:20-4/98 to be used when requesting permission to hold a special event in the Libraries, or an event sponsored by the Libraries.  Copies can be obtained from the FRONT OFFICE, LIBRARIES ADMINISTRATION.
EXCHANGE
Arrangement with another Library or agency to receive materials automatically in return for materials our library or university sends them. A record of exchanges is kept in the GIFT AND EXCHANGE; Section of ACQUISITIONS SERVICES.
EXHIBITS
Displays of books and/or visual material addressing particular topics of interest to the campus community.  The library had three designated exhibit areas:  the FIRST NATIONAL BANK GALLERY,1st floor, east of the front entrance; the BONFILS-STANTON GALLERY, 2nd floor, area by main elevator; and the south wing section, by room 203, second floor.
